COMPANIES HOUSE companies_house_logo All limited companies in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland are registered at Companies House, an Executive Agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The main functions of Companies House are to:
  • incorporate and dissolve limited companies;
  • examine and store company information delivered under the Companies Act and related legislation;
  • make this information available to the public.

Web Check: The WebCHeck service offers a searchable Company Names and Address Index free of charge which enables you to search for information on over 2 million companies.  The searches can be carried out on a company either by using its name or by using its unique company registration number.  In addition to the free company details, you can also use WebCHeck to purchase a company's historical information, including accounts and annual returns and a selection of company reports all online.  Payment is made by credit or debit card and all products are delivered electronically to a unique secure download area.

Companies House Direct: This is a premier search tool for accessing and downloading company information. Over 240 million images of company documents are available including company accounts, as well as a wide range of database information. Companies House Direct is a subscription service, so you will need to open an account. Opening an account is now free; thereafter a monthly subscription fee of £5.00 is charged as part of your monthly invoice, which would also include any documents or products that you may have purchased.

Monitor: You can keep an eye on any company on the public register, including your own company and 'monitor' what information has been sent to Companies House, using the Monitor service within WebCHeck & Companies House Direct. Just register your email address, and details of the companies and the information you are interested in. As soon as the information is registered and is live on the public register, the system will recognise your interest and send you an email notification. Other services are available at:
