Jaguar Land Rover powering the future of mobility

New Jaguar I-PACE launched at Frankfurt Motor Show 2017This has been a seminal year for Jaguar Land Rover, COBCOE’s Global Strategic Partner. Thanks to a range of important announcements from the carmaker, the future of motoring has never looked so exciting.

In addition to the news that all new vehicle lines will be electrified from 2020, Jaguar Land Rover unveiled the Jaguar I-PACE e-trophy concept race car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. This unique car will compete in a pioneering single-make series supporting the FIA Formula E world championship. The I-PACE is the world’s first premium, performance, all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) and will be launched next year, although customers around the globe have already been placing deposits. The new Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY series will join the Formula E circuit in 2018.

Making the announcement, Dr Ralf Speth, CEO, Jaguar Land Rover, said: “The technology we are developing on the track allows us to deliver thrilling electric vehicles to our customers.” He explained that customers would be able to choose from battery electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid power, as well as ultra-clean petrol and diesel engines.

The new Land Rover Discovery SVX also made its global debut in Frankfurt this year. With increased ground clearance and a specially tuned terrain response system for off-road, this is the most adventurous member of the Discovery family.

Another four Jaguar vehicles also debuted at the recent auto show. They were the new Jaguar E-PACE compact performance SUV, the Jaguar XE Project 8 (the most powerful Jaguar ever built) the Jaguar XJR575 and the Jaguar XF Sportbrake. Jaguar Land Rover has committed to invest more than £4 billion in new products, innovative technologies and increasing manufacturing capacity in the 2017/18 financial year.

Environmental innovation is central to these plans and electrification brings the first chance to truly reinvent the car in the drive towards a more sustainable future.

This development also signals another futuristic move to membership of an on-demand service club, which allows either sole ownership or the option of sharing the car with others, so you only need own the steering wheel rather than the car itself, and Jaguar customers can summon a fully-charged FUTURE-TYPE on demand.
