Jude Law joins Luxembourg 25th Anniversary garden party

A message from Joanna Denton, Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg

Jude Law and Joanne DentonAs I step into my new role of Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg following the AGM on 31 May 2017, could I really have hoped to start my term with a better first event than Sunday brunch with Jude Law and HM Ambassador John Marshall to celebrate the chamber's 25th Anniversary?

2017 is the 25th Anniversary year for the chamber – and last year my predecessor, Alison Macleod, launched the challenge to the social events group to come up with a series of events to celebrate this milestone. A challenge met and surpassed by Carole Miltgen and her team.

The first event was held in February: Dinner in the Dark, held a Restaurant Chiggeri to raise funds for Chiens Guides d'Aveugles au Luxembourg asbl.

For the second event in June, a complete change in pace and tone: HM Ambassador John Marshall opened his home and splendid gardens to more than 100 members, friends and guests of the chamber for Sunday Brunch.

Oh, and did I mention Jude?

Indeed, renowned stage and screen actor Jude Law had been appearing in a production of Obession at the Grand Theatre over the weekend, and we were delighted to welcome him among our number. A thoroughly interesting and interested person, Jude spent time chatting to invitees, cutting birthday cake and finding out about the new exhibition of street art created by London artist James Straffon.

We enjoyed cocktails by Next Level Cocktails, buffet brunch by Ca(fe)sino, blueberry pancakes made to order by Anne Faber from Anne's Kitchen, and traditional Luxembourg music played by Luxembourg duo Krunnemecken. The overall event was sponsored by CLdN Cobelfret, and our birthday cake was provided by Kathy's Deli and Cupcakery.

Check out the photos on our website gallery to see a bit more of the atmosphere of the day.

Throughout the year we will continue with inspiring events, bringing together some really top-class speakers and subjects.
