HRH Prince Michael of Kent joins business delegation to Finland

B3CF delegation to Finland 2017At the invitation of the British and Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland (B3CF), HRH Prince Michael of Kent* visited Finland from 25 to 28 September 2017, along with a business delegation from the Genesis Initiative, COBCOE and the Royal Commonwealth Society.

Prince Michael undertook the visit as Patron of the Genesis Initiative to promote trade and investment between Finland and the UK, and within the Commonwealth. The delegation attended 12 events organised by B3CF and its partners, members and sponsors, including:

-    The Future of Infrastructure, the Genesis Initiative dinner and the business breakfast – Opportunities for Family Firms in the Commonwealth all at Haikko Manor, Porvoo

-    A visit to B3CF member company, Claned, Helsinki, B3CF Champions Pitching session at AIRO Island and launch of the first cohort of the B3CF Champions Programme

-    A visit to Aalto University, Design Factory and start-up Sauna;

-    The B3CF Patrons Dinner at Noormarkku, Pori;

-    A visit to the Subcontracting Fair, Alihankinta, in Tampere, and UK-Finland trade roundtable discussions at Tampere City Hall, moderated by Anne-Marie Martin, Chief Executive of COBCOE

-    The Anniversary Gala Dinner at the House of Nobility Helsinki

-    A private visit to the world-famous Zabludowicz Glass Collection, Helsinki.


The visit exceeded all expectations and Prince Michael stated: "The planning and preparation were first class and we used every moment to our advantage. It was rightly a packed and busy programme. Thank you for all you did to make the visit to Finland such a success."

The visit yielded many positive business, networking and policy outcomes and provided an opportunity for different companies, including start-ups, to showcase various products and services, thereby improving their international visibility and business relations between the UK,, the Commonwealth and Finland.
