Equality and diversity at the Franco-British Chamber

Diversity and equality are very important subjects at the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and something the chamber is constantly trying to promote as a team through its events, communications and everyday work ethic.

The chamber is very proud that eight out of 15 board members are women. These accomplished women work in a broad spectrum of sectors including law, finance and education. Catherine Le Yaouanc has held the role of General Manager of the chamber for almost 25 years and is passionate about opening the chamber up to women.

The chamber is currently developing a partnership with 100 Women in Finance – a global network of professionals in the finance and alternative investment industries working together to empower women at every stage of their careers. Furthermore, the chamber’s commitment to equality and diversity includes organising a yearly conference to celebrate International Women’s Day.

This year’s conference is in partnership with the Professional Women’s Network Paris, a global cross-sectoral networking, advocacy, information and training forum for management-level women with an international outlook with the mission of promoting the professional progress of women and giving them the tools, networks and skills they need to assume leadership roles.

The conference is being held at the British Embassy Paris on 8 March, focusing on women in creativity and innovation with an exciting and inspirational panel of speakers, including Mathilde Bretillot, Interior Designer and Professor, Amanda Levete CBE, winner of the Jane Drew Prize for architecture, Isabelle Musnik, CEO and Founder of trends magazine Influencia, Karen Vernet, Purchasing Director and Digital Project Director for Printemps Department Store. Louise Ekland, British Journalist and TV Presenter in France, is moderating the evening. All these women are dedicated to promoting gender equality in Britain, France or both.

Prioritising international trade

The key focus of the Franco-British Chamber is promoting international trade within the membership. The chamber has recently launched Business Connect,– a new service which enables member companies of any shape or size to find trusted business contacts around the world matched to individual needs, powered by the COBCOE Connects platform. Business Connect links chambers of commerce and similar business groups online, so that companies across Europe can make contact. It combines advanced technology with personal moderation and local knowledge. Partnered with Kompass the global business directory, it provides access to an extra four million potential business connections and clients across 60 countries.
